Tires .tires, tires lets talk about the parts of the motorcycle that keeps us on the road. This year we have had some learning experiences with tires ,While we where on a trip to Texas we had some tire problems coming through El Paso TX.so we stopped at the local Honda dealer there for new tires . It was amazing what they did to install new tires on our wing, [Should have taken pictures]. We got what we thought was new tires and then went on, later after we have been home for a while, I started to have problems with the tires .The front tire had went almost bald in 5K miles. I called Dunlap and gave them the info on the tires. The front tire was a tire for a Honda VTX 1300 the rear tire was a take off from an older 1800.So Dunlop warrantied the front tire and had to buy a new rear tire .I had a new dealer install the tires because it was such a long drive to where I normally have them done .They done them twice and still are not balance correctly. Here are some things to consider, you as a rider, need to make sure you know you tires what size and what should go on your bike. What is the correct air pressure that goes’ in that tire, what is the load limit and here is something most people don’t think about what is the maximum speed for that tire? All tires have a maximum speed that tire should not exceed. As an example Gl1500 Dunlop Bias tires are rated for maximum speed of 90 mph GL1800 Dunlop E3 are rated 140mph .Question? How often should you check your tire pressure, answer before every ride .and if it is a long ride during your breaks .Another thing to check is its manufacture date. I have purchased new tires from a dealer and they where dry rotted because they where new old tires .I made them take them off and ordered me new tires and that I was not going to drive off with dry rotted tires that I paid new prices for. They apologized and ordered me the new tires. [Mixing tire brands ],you can do that but not recommended try to stay with the same tires front and rear things will work out better for you.[note] the #1 cause of tire failure is improper air pressure. Here are some things to remember.
Support those that support you > know your tires > Check your tires often > don’t overload or over ride your tires
Be safe ride with a smart head .

Trikes
Welcome to Desk Talk, Trikes have been around sense the early 1900's and has evolved from home made machines that was unstable and hard to handle to rides that have a lot of technologies and
pretty machines that are fun and easy to ride. Trikes comes in different styles, two wheels up front
and two wheels in the rear all are great machines to ride. Some people look at the trike and sees a
machine that looks cool and fun to ride but are afraid that it might turn over, but the fact is just the
opposite. Trikes are very stable machines and are difficult to turn over technologies that are put into these machines are high standards and the best that you can put into a Road ride to have fun
and enjoy. Now lets talk about training, there are also training class available for trikes, in 2000 I
became an instructor for the Goldwing Road Riders Association and I began teaching their one day trike course for those who wanted to become a better and safer rider, a very good course. In 2009 the Motorcycle safety Foundation came up with a beginners course for trikes called 3WBRC. This course is also recognized by the state of Arizona to get your M/C Lic, We are the only school in Arizona that offers this course the course is fun and is offered as often as we can fill it. You must provide your own trike in the course if you don't a trike we can provide you with one at a min, fee.
Training is vital in learning to operate one of these machines. There are different techniques in riding a trike. Take the class and learn to ride it correctly from the professionals. When it comes to great training it is priceless, don't let money from getting something you will use for the rest of your riding career. Lot of people start out riding to save money and find out it's a lot of fun. Join the fun everyone is having get the training learn to ride. If you have taken one of our courses send in your testimony to [arizonaproriding@yahoo.com] subject [To The Desk].
